Description
J. Rockett Tim Pierce Overdrive/Boost was designed with this well-known session guitarist from the LA scene and mimics one of his favorite amps: the Naylor SD60. This amp is known for its warm sound with the necessary punch for solo sounds. The Power Amp part of this pedal gives you a fat, powerful sound, like the sound of a tube amp. An additional advantage of this pedal is that the overdrive and the Power Amp can be used either separately or together. So what does it sound like? The Power Amp is very similar to a Blackface, the famous Fender amp made between '63 and '68. You get boosts in the highs as well as the lows. The drive goes from mild blues overdrive to ZZ Top and AC/DC. It is a very versatile pedal thanks to the range of drive. The sound can be finished off with the treble and bass buttons. Furthermore, the pedal produces a lot of sustain without the need for high-gain.Does it sound like an SD60? It certainly has a lot of the character of the original, including the thick and prominent midrange. The pedal may sound just a bit smoother than the amp, but a fool pays attention to that and besides, that may be preferable. This is just a really good sounding pedal!
